Wise Allies Whipped TALLOW FACIAL BUTTER
Excuse me? You want me to put what on my face? You read that right. This facial butter is made with herbally infused doe tallow. Tallow has been used for centuries to create luxurious skin.
Tallow comes from the fat of red meat animals such as beef, deer, bison, goat, even bear. It contains many fat-soluble vitamins like A, B, D, & K. It also contains anti-inflammatory CLA. It has Omega 3s fatty acids which support cell membrane structure which helps the skin hold moisture. It has skin nourishing ingredients that plants don't.
"The Fatty Acid profile of grass-fed, pasture raised tallow is incredibly close to that of the human skin cell." - CaveGirlEats
This makes tallow a perfect vessel for herbal infusion to occur and create an easily absorbable face and body balm. Plant oils and butters are just that they are from plants, and we do not have the same cell structure as plants, therefore, it may become harder for our body to absorb the plant-based oil or butter, leaving us with a greasy feeling.
So now that we have talked about the amazingness of tallow lets talk about the other allies that make this facial butter so great.
This butter is infused with the herbal allies of Elder, Rose, & Yarrow. 3 of my favorite herbs for the face.
ELDER FLOWERS can help repair damage and increase blood flow & circulation, & are antioxidant that can help protect against sun damage. They are also rich in bioflavonoids that can help wrinkles from setting in. Elderflower is astringent so it can help reduce the size of pores and help to tighten your skin.
ROSE PETALS are anti-inflammatory so they can help soothe skin irritation including acne. Rose is full of Vitamin C which can help boost collagen production to help strengthen skin cells and tissues. Rose can help lock moisture into dry skin cells and create a glowing radiant skin.
YARROW LEAF & FLOWERS are wonderful at balancing the PH of the skin. Yarrow is antiseptic which means it can help protect wounds and keep bacterial, fungal, and other irritations away. Yarrow is an emollient which can soften and soothe the skin.
There are two other ingredients that make this facial butter so special, avocado oil, and local beeswax.
"Cold pressed avocado oil is one of the richest sources of beneficial monounsaturated fatty acids like oleic acid. These fats are a great addition to your diet but can also have an immediate effect on the texture and appearance of your skin.
Not only is avocado oil extremely good at hydrating and softening your skin, but is it also often recommended as an effective treatment for acne and blackheads, eczema and other forms of skin inflammation. It has even been reported a beneficial for diminishing age spots and smoothing out fine lines and wrinkles... Avocado oil may also be a useful treatment for skin problems like...even more serious conditions such as psoriasis and eczema." https://superfoodprofiles.com/how-to-apply-avocado-oil-face-moisturizer
I added beeswax into this recipe for its added hydration benefits. Beeswax actually can help lock in moisture, and even draw moisture to your skin with its humectant properties. It also provides a sort of barrier that can protect us from many of the environmental attacks our skin faces every day. Beeswax is a great source of Vitamin A which can help give a rejuvenative look.
NO ESSENTIAL OILS!
But won't I smell like tallow?
Maybe for about 5 minutes, the scent of the tallow will dissipate quickly after you apply the face butter. Also, essential oils can be super irritating and even drying to the sensitive skin of our face so we opted to leave it out.
